It has no moving parts and no depleting element, which gives it a very long operational lifetime. The infra-red source and detector are based on LED and photodiode technology, which have many advantages compared to traditional sources and detectors.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEach sensor is individually temperature compensated to improve accuracy.
